Encaustic
In contrast to painting with cold wax, hot wax (encaustic) creates a smoothness which allows you to see through the layers creating a lighter feel in both color and texture. Working with each layer Trisha uses melted encaustic medium and a blow torch to move pigment around the surface. Depending on how much the current layer melts will determine how much of the underlayer is seen in the final painting. Using the unpredictable nature of melting wax in her favour Trisha creates abstract floral blossoms and moody landscapes.
